Spring snow goose hunting is at its finest in recent years in South Dakota, and there has never been a better time than now to check it out. Every year during late February through mid April thousands of snow geese make their annual migration back north through South Dakota. If you’re a waterfowl enthusiast, this is one of the best times of the year to be in the field. 
Outdoor Adrenaline offers spring snow goose hunts throughout the eastern half of South Dakota. You’ll hunt snow geese over decoys from a heated pit blind or from a mobile hunting unit as they make their way back north. During the spring conservation season, there are liberalized limits and regulations authorized to aid in an increased harvest of snow geese. The population of snow geese has exceeded the carrying capacity of their northern breeding grounds causing the destruction of nesting habitat. During the spring season we are allowed to use electronic callers and unplugged shotguns to aid in harvesting more geese.
You can count on seeing large numbers of snow geese in the areas we hunt. South Dakota offers a unique bottlenecking effect in the waterfowl migration, creating large concentrations of snow geese in the eastern half of the state. This is due the arrangement of National Wildlife Refuges and many scattered loafing ponds where the birds rest, feed and reenergize for the rest of the northward migration.  |
